Jeff "Red" Jefferson

Jeffrey Glenn "Red" Jefferson, 57, died Monday, December 23, 2019 at his home.

Born July 15, 1962 in Nicholas County, he was a 1980 graduate of Nicholas County High School, who loved hunting, fishing and camping. Red dedicated himself to his community having worked for the City of Carlisle for more than 39 years, serving as the current City Superintendent and formerly as Chief of the Carlisle City Fire Department.

Surviving are his son, Chris Jefferson; his father, Ed Jefferson; 2 brothers: Timmy (Gail) Jefferson and Robin (Cristi) Jefferson; 5 nieces & nephews: Brandon (Melanie) Jefferson, Kayla Jefferson, Morgan Jefferson, Katie Jefferson and Cody Livingood; a great-nephew, Jack Jefferson, and his beloved dog, Ace.

Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Patty Watkins Jefferson.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 27, 2019 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.
