John McCall, Jr. Obituary

John Charles McCall, Jr., 63, husband of Regina Lee McCall, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 at Baptist Health-Lexington.

Born March 6, 1961 in Bourbon County, he was a lifelong farmer and a  former employee of W.R. Stamler Corporation. John enjoyed tinkering, restoring and doing mechanic work on trucks and tractors. Known as “Jabo” and “Moline Man” to his fellow tractor showing & pulling friends, he was a longtime member of the Central Kentucky Steam & Gas Engine Association and liked semi trucks. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, camping and fishing. 

Additional survivors include his sons: Dwayne McCall & Cotey McCall, both of Nicholas County; his sister, Lucy (Lauren) McCall of Nicholas County; his “brother” Freddie Keller, of North Middletown; 2 grandchildren: Grayson Colt McCall & Camri Aynn McCall; and special friends: James “Big Mac” & Dana McMillen of Stamping Ground, Jim & Fran Cooper of Washington Courthouse, Ohio, Russell & Betty Burbage of Russellville, Ohio and Bobby Livingood & Thomas Brierly, both of Nicholas County.

He was preceded in death by his parents John C. & Ethel McCall, Sr.; a sister, Tracy McCall Milner; and a daughter-in-law, Dale Ann Varner. 

A Gathering of Family & Friends will begin at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 12th at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home with a Time of Remembrance at 7:00 P.M. 

In accordance with John’s wishes, following cremation he will be inurned in the McCall Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions are encouraged to the John C. McCall, Jr. Memorial Fund which will support local youth in pursuing their interest in mechanics and agriculture.
