Kathy Gwen Green, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.
A Nicholas County native born June 24, 1954 to the late Julian Kenneth & Velma Jackson Green, she was a 1972 graduate of Nicholas County High School, completed her undergraduate work at Eastern Kentucky University and her Master’s degree at Morehead State University. Kathy taught biology for nearly 30 years at Nicholas County, guiding her students to numerous science fair awards at both the state and national level. A dedicated member of Carlisle United Methodist Church, Kathy actively served in various roles for many years. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister & aunt, and will be missed by everyone she befriended.
As a mother she showed her love in many ways. She made sure people were supported spiritually, emotionally, financially, intellectually. She made others feel like her own family. Her love was endless. We hope we can continue to learn more about her through the loving memories of her friends and family.
Surviving are her daughter, Abigail “Abby” Green; her brother, Dwaine (Rita) Green; a nephew, Joshua (Meredith) Green; and 2 great-nephews, Dayton & Jackson Green.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 26th at Carlisle United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Laura Barkley, Pastor Denise Wallace and Rev. James Doughton.
Visitation will begin 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.
