Kayte Joy (Sexton) Land

Kayte Joy Sexton Land, 43, wife of Chad Aaron Land, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

A Nicholas County native born October 1, 1979, she was a 1997 graduate of Nicholas County High School, a longtime dental assistant, and a lifelong member of New Beginnings Church, where she served as the worship team leader. Kayte found her true calling when she began teaching at the New Beginnings Christian Academy; the school and its children were two of her greatest joys.  When not at school or church she loved reading, singing and being with her family. Her adventurous spirit led her to enjoy traveling, camping and vacationing at the beach.

Also surviving are her 3 children: Micah, Kaylee Shae & Leah Grace Land; her parents, Darrell & Anna Shearer Sexton; her brother Chris (Charity) Sexton; her paternal grandparents, G.W. & Faye Sexton; her in-laws, Larry & Ruby Land; and 7 nieces & nephews: Cierra Collins, Brooke, Bryce, Chance & Drew Kincaid, and Aven & Cooper Sexton. 

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Virgil & Devonia Shearer.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 24th at the New Beginnings Church by Rev. Darrell Sexton. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery. 

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Friday at the church.
