Ray Kenneth Ishmael, 92, husband to Betty Mae Trussell Ishmael for 47 years, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Bourbon Community Hospital.
Born March 21, 1929 in Fleming County to the late James Harrison & Clara Mae Jolly Ishmael, he was a lifelong mechanic and retired from the Nicholas County Road Department. Kenneth served as a member of the City of Carlisle Fire Department and enjoyed many years of working side by side with his good friend Fred Burnaw. He was a loyal member of the Myers Station Christian Church had a true love of God. Kenneth enjoyed spending time in his garage, riding his scooter, being with family and friends, and could never pass up a game of cards.
Additional survivors include 4 daughters, Brenda Kay (Vance) Reddick, Patty Rae Hatton, Tryna Renee (Larry) Ring and Kennetha Doreen Hatton; 9 grandchildren: Bonnita Parker, Bobby Keith Barnett, Charlie Warner, Jeremy Warner, Kristin Fryman, Jordan Hatton, Destiny Hatton, Brayson Ring and Skyler Ring; 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Edith Elliot Hoover; 2 brothers, Jessie James & Junior Elwood Ishmael; a sister, Helen Myers Boone; and a son-in-law, Bobby Barnett.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Bro. Tony Smith with burial following in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Wednesday.
