Lenny Joseph Burkhart

Lenny Joseph Burkhart, 57, husband of Mellany Davis Burkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.

Born June 3rd, 1964 in Defiance, Ohio. At a very young age Lenny decided to become a farmer and dedicated his life to that purpose. To accomplish his dream, he spent many long hours working at Sauder Woodworking in Archbold, Ohio and a few years in the oil fields of North Dakota. He lived and farmed for more than 20 years in Camden, Michigan and for the last 4 years in Carlisle, Kentucky. His hard work ethic earned him respect from his family, friends, and local community and his outgoing personality, wonderful sense of humor and bright smile was admired by people that knew him. Lenny would do anything for the people he loved and often put others before himself. He was resourceful and practical; always finding items to re-propose for use on the farm. Lenny enjoyed simple pleasures like hot coffee in his recliner, a long drive, Sunday naps, and hot fudge sundaes. Some say their goodbyes, but Lenny would say, “See you later”!

He is also survived by his daughter, Heather Kay Burkhart of Ashland, Ohio; 3 stepsons, Kyle James Nowak of Cassopolis, Michigan, Coledin Jesse Nowak of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Jared Michael (fiancée- Lora) Nowak of Goshen, Indiana; father, Ronald Henry Burkhart, 4 siblings, Mark Henry Burkhart of Defiance, Ohio, Connie Sue (Paul) Ewing of Millersburg, Ohio, Kenny Leroy (Jennifer) Burkhart of Napoleon, Ohio and Beth Ann (Jerry) Bowers of Continental, Ohio and a step-grandson, A.J. Nowak.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Schuette Baerlin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20th from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio.
