Lillian Allen Riggs Letcher, 82, wife of the late Ronald Scott Letcher, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Born May 5, 1939 in Bourbon County to the late Clarence & Eva Mason Riggs, she was a 1957 graduate of Nicholas County High School, worked for many years as the secretary, treasurer and nurse at Nicholas County Elementary School, assisted at many local businesses including Dr. Wendell Kingsolver & Dr. Allen Hamon’s offices, as well as Baker’s Department Store and Soper’s Drug. Lillian was truly devoted in service to Carlisle United Methodist Church, where she prepared communion for many years and was active in United Methodist Women. She enjoyed playing dominoes, Bunco and cards with her friends groups, watching Reds Baseball and going to Red Hatter functions. Affectionately known as “Gram” to an entire generation of Nicholas County’s kids, her greatest joy came from her grandchildren– be it tea parties & dress-up fun, ball games or just sitting together on the porch– they were her world.
Left to cherish her memory are 2 sons, Greg (Brenda) Letcher and Pat (Dawn) Letcher; 10 grandchildren: Jessica (John, III) Hamilton, Jordan Letcher (Kyle Williams), Kristen (Blake) Letcher-McLeod, Kimberly (Kenton) Letcher-Holbrook, Adrienne (Ethan) Letcher-Smith, Kendra Letcher, Trent Letcher, Kayley Clay Letcher, Kamryn Letcher and Tate Letcher; and 2 great-grandchildren, LillyKate Louise Hamilton & Landon Scott McLeod.
Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers, Morgan & J.C. “Buddy” Riggs, and 3 sisters, Sue Ella Dampier, Jane Shaw & Betty Riggs (infant).
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 19th at Carlisle United Methodist Church by Rev. Daniel Burch, Pastor Denise Wallace and Rev. James Doughton. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the service.
