Lorena M. (Phipps) Crawford

Lorena Mae Crawford, 88, wife of the late Carl Crawford, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 at her home. 

Born April 1, 1934 in Isom, Virginia to the late Lloyd & Stella Mullins Phipps, she was a former employee of Bell & Howell, the former owner & operator of Stoner Inn and worked for several years in the cafeteria at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home. Lorena loved playing bingo, working in her flower garden and spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.

Surviving are 3 sons: Larry Corder, of Carlisle, Lester Corder, of Georgetown, and Garry (Sandy) Crawford, of Carlisle; 3 daughters, Linda (Paul) Bell, of West Virginia, Joyce (Harold) Gerstein and Glenna Nolan, both of Carlisle; 4 brothers: Lester, Kyle, Ron & Paul Phipps; 2 sisters, Mary Deel and Martha Musick; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. 

Also preceding her in death were 6 brothers: Avery, Vernon, Sylvester, Clifford, Chester & James Phipps, and 3 sisters: Bertha Mullins, Elmira Smith & Irene Haynes.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 23rd at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Bro. Richard Gardner. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday.
