Marco Nando Cuniberti passed away at the age of 73 at his residence in Washington, DC in the presence of his beloved wife Peggy.
Marco was born in Washington, DC to Roberto and Jean de Laval Cuniberti. He spent his early years in Alexandria, Virginia where he was renowned for his linguistic ability having spent a year in France at the tender age of 14 to perfect the art of speaking French.
He continued to further his education by attending Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and later graduating from St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD obtaining a bachelor's degree in liberal arts.
He began his early career as a contractor supporting various government agencies and the military around the DC area. He later became a Federal employee and worked as a Regulations Specialist at the Department of State.
He was noted for his quick wit, his high degree of professionalism, and his ability to maintain a diplomatic posture when faced with difficult situations from demanding clients both stateside and overseas. “Marco the Magnifico” was coined to describe him. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him.
His passions included classical music, his love of opera, the New York Times, crossword puzzles, and linguistics.
Marco will be remembered for his kindness and humanitarian efforts in providing support to the less fortunate. He also cared deeply for the care and welfare of animals. The most noble characteristic of Marco was his profound sense of fairness. He wanted to make the world a better place not only for himself but for everyone.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Roberto and Jean de Lavah Cuniberti, and his brother, Piero Cuniberti.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, his cousins, Candace, Beatrice, Annabella, Cornelia, Edwardo, Kim, Marilyn, Tina and Perry, as well as a host of other family members from the Cuniberti family and family members from a previous marriage who loved him dearly.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 12th at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith with burial to follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon Thursday until the time of service.
