Mary Lee (Vastine) Smart

Mary Lee Vastine Smart, 74, wife of the late Harold Don Smart, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Maysville Nursing & Rehab.

Born October 19, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky to the late Milton & Alvena Hayes Vastine, she was a former employee of the E.D. Bullard Co. and team drove a truck with her husband for many years in retirement. Mary spent most of her life caring for others and took her greatest joy in her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Surviving are 4 stepchildren: Donnie (Kristie) Smart, of Cynthiana, and Kathy Petitt, Donnita Berry & Tracey (John) Jones, all of Carlisle; a sister, Regina Vastine, of Florida; a special nephew, Derrick Vastine; 7 grandchildren: Joshua Wade, Justin Petitt, Ashli Craddock, Kyleigh Brooks, Erin Smart, Kayla Berry & Jamie Berry (Sam Durham); several great-grandchildren including Tylen & Abel Rawlings; and her longtime care-giver, Jimmy Berry.

Also preceding her in death were a sister, Vickie Vastine, and 2 aunts, Margie Jones & Shirley Rider. 

Services will be 12:00 Noon Friday, August 19th at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Chaplain Rick Snyder with burial following in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Friday until the time of service.
