Mary B. (Gaunce) Towles

Mary B. Gaunce Towles, 92, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2016.

Mary was born on February 19, 1924 in Nicholas County, to the late Oscar Gaunce and Lidia Myrtle Owings Gaunce.

She is survived by her son, Charles Towles and his partner, Billie Harding, of Leland, North Carolina; her daughter, Ann Rigger of Nashville, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Pamela Jo Towles Lail and her husband, Ross, of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Kimberly Ann Towles Barnwell and her husband, Jon, of Johnson City, Tennessee; and two great-grandchildren, Levi Jackson Lail and Novella Skye Barnwell; and a sister, Geneva Kearns, of Carlisle.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, Willie Hamilton Towles, who passed on October 1, 1984 at the age of 70; her son, Jimmie Lee Towles, who passed on March 14, 1957 at the age of 2; 4 sisters, Della Dye, Ethel Hunt, Lutie Shields and Nellie Wilson; and 2 brothers, Lovell & Robert Gaunce.

It was Mary’s wish to be cremated and her remains taken to Carlisle, KY to be laid to rest in the Carlisle Cemetery alongside her husband and their son.

The CarePartners staff has been wonderful to the family, took excellent care of Mary and works every day to provide compassionate care to people in the last stages of their life.
