Michael Loren Keeney, 69, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
He was born January 1, 1953 in East Lansing, Michigan to the late Loren Harvey & Virginia Marie Waters Keeney. In November, 1973 Mike married his beloved wife, Mary Ann Throop Keeney. He was ordained at the Vestaburg (Michigan) Church of Christ after attending the Great Lakes Bible College in Lansing.
Mike served the Christian Church Restoration Movement in many ways over the years, having been a prison chaplain, a hospice chaplain and helping start the food pantry at The Foundry Church in Burke, Virginia. His talents and interests were varied, ranging from history, woodworking, painting and reading to being an award-winning bonsai artist, working on anything mechanical, especially cars, and his latest love– the BBQ smoker. He greatly enjoyed camping and having fellowship with his sons at Northmen. Mike held his family dear and his absolute favorite thing to do was make his traditional Sunday night phone calls to everyone, without fail.
Also left to cherish his memory are his 3 children: Michael Loren (Heidi) Keeney, Jr., of Big Rapids, Michigan, Laura Ann (Tyler) Duncan, of Carlisle, and Andrew Ross (Christina) Keeney, of Burke, Virginia; 2 brothers: Timothy Keeney, of Webberville, Michigan, and Patrick (Robin) Keeney, of Howell, Michigan; a sister, Maureen (Peter) Wiseman, of Ball Ground, Georgia; 5 grandchildren: Emily & Megan Keeney and Hadley, Holland & Hannah Duncan; and his beloved grand-dog, Barton, along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.
His sister-in-law Nancy Keeney also preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 19th at the Carlisle Christian Church.
