Michael Jennings Pryor, 61, Nicholas County Judge/Executive, husband of Monica Moore Pryor, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
A Nicholas County native born May 10, 1957 to the late Paul & Marjorie Gross Pryor, he was a 1976 graduate of Nicholas County High School, a longtime building contractor and dedicated member of the Carlisle Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. Mike gave selflessly to his community through his work as Chairman of the Nicholas County Democratic Party, Chairman of the Bluegrass Area District Board, member of the Bluegrass Area Development Board, the Regional Jail Board for Bourbon & Nicholas Counties, Bourbon Community Hospital Executive Board, Executive Committee of the Bluegrass Area Development District, Economic Development Board, Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts, WEDCO, Nicholas County Board of Health, Nicholas County District Extension Board, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board for the new judicial center, Local Elected Officials Governing Board and as a past member of the Sharpsburg Water District.
Also surviving are his 2 children: Crystal (Kenny) Staley, of Lexington, and Tyler (Natasha) Pryor, of Cynthiana; 3 step-children: Jonna (Kevin) McGuire, of Mt. Sterling, Jessica Webb, of Lexington, and Christian George, of Carlisle; 2 sisters: Mona (Dan) Cummins, of Paris, and Sherry Pryor (Mark Bischoff), of Willisburg; 6 grandchildren: Jack McGuire, Oliver Pryor, Will Staley, Elise McGuire, Olivia Pryor and Meredith Staley.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Carlisle Christian Church with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of the 11th Floor at the UK Markey Cancer Center for their exceptional care of Mike during his illness.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Thursday at the church.
