Nell Gay (Bowles) Smoot

Nell Gay Bowles Smoot, 79, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home.

Born March 10, 1938 in Nicholas County to the late George & Pauline Jolly Bowles, she was a devoted mother, grandmother & homemaker and member of the Carlisle Christian Church.

Survivors include 3 sons: Kenneth Carl (Connie) Smoot, of Carlisle, Steve Wilson (Marsha) Smoot and Johnny Lee Smoot, both of Georgetown; 2 daughters: Diane Roser (Johnny Lane) and Betty Jo (Kevin) Booth, both of Carlisle; a sister, Ann Wigglesworth, of Carlisle; 7 grandchildren: Amy (Chris) Jones, Trevor Smoot, Tiffany (Nick) Phillips, Brian (Julie) Smoot, Jessica Marcum (Jarrod Vice), Jen (Casey) Emberton and Myla Wilson-Booth; 10 great-grandchildren: Carson & Trevor Jones, Gunner, Houston & Braxton Smoot, McKinley Phillips, Lindsee & Micha Rison, and Atticus & Myan Emberton.

Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Marsha Wayne Smoot, a brother, Fred Wayne Bowles, and a great-granddaughter, Kali Grace Phillips.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 22, 2018 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith with burial to follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Sunday.
