Obituary
Ramona Hollar Sowell George, 82, wife of Billy C. George, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at her home in Carlisle.
Born October 23, 1940 in Nicholas County to the late Fred Lee & Lelia Elizabeth Mattox Hollar, she was a longtime hairdresser and member of Headquarters Methodist Church, where she played piano for many years.
Ramona loved music and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Additional survivors include a son, Michael (Stephanie) Sowell; 2 brothers, Layne Hollar (Lois Mitchell) & Gary (Debbie) Hollar; 2 grandchildren, Chad (Courtney) Ockerman & Samantha Sowell; 2 great-grandchildren, Presley Wills & Stevie Jane Ockerman; and special niece & nephews, Doug Hollar, Tracy (Ron) Allison & Chris Hollar (Jane Harris).
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Tracy Aileen Sowell; a brother, Sterling Hollar; and a great-granddaughter, Sonny Marie Ockerman.
Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 18th at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial will follow in Saltwell Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Monday until the time of service.
