Rev. Gaylord Gillispie Obituary

Rev. James Gaylord Gillispie, 80, husband to his “Little Sweetie” Betty Jo George Gillispie for 58 years, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Baptist Health-Lexington. 

Born March 22, 1941 in Bourbon County to the late James Noble & Anna Mae Wagoner Gillispie, Gaylord attended “Myers Station University”, was a 1959 graduate of Nicholas County High School, served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a retired employee of I.B.M. A longtime Methodist minister and evangelist, he was a member of The Kentucky  Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and ministered at several area churches.

Additional survivors include his brothers, Coleman Gillispie, of Cynthiana, and Phillip Gillispie, of Texas, his beloved cat, Princess, and a host of nieces & nephews. 

Also preceding him in death were 2 brothers, Bob & Don Gillispie. 

Services will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, September 18th at the Moorefield United Methodist Church. A committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 20th in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Moorefield United Methodist Church.
