Rev. Julian C. Hammonds, 93, of Carlisle, husband of the late Mary Evelyn Cooper Hammonds, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana.
Born September 12, 1932 in Nicholas County to the late Shelby M. “Pat” & Dora Bussell Hammonds, he was a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary and served as pastor for several churches in the Kentucky United Methodist Conference over his 40-year career. Julian loved to watch U.K. Basketball, fish and garden, and was an avid follower of the weather. He greatly enjoyed traveling with Evelyn and spending time with his family in his beloved hometown of Carlisle. Julian was a true servant of God, ministering to any and all who needed him, be it through nursing home ministry or being called upon in his home church at Carlisle United Methodist, he was always ready with a prayer and a kind word.
Surviving are 2 children, David (Dana) Hammonds of Alexandria and Carol Ann (Darren) Davis of Ashland; a brother, Jerry Hammonds of Lexington; 4 grandchildren: Peyton Hammonds (Charlie Burdett), Ethan Hammonds (Maura Crouch), Rebekah (Cody) Ross & Aaron Davis; and 2 great-grandchildren, Issac Adam & Alyvia Ruth.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Fred Hammonds; a sister, Virginia Vice; and a grandson, Caleb Davis.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 23rd at Carlisle United Methodist Church by Pastors Rocky & Denise Wallace with burial to follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Friday until the time of service.
