Ricky Dale Bretz

Ricky Dale Bretz, 56, son of Jean Davis Bretz and the late Bobby Gerald Bretz, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born June 10, 1960 in Nicholas County, he attended Nicholas County High School and was an employee of Accutran for more than 20 years. Ricky was an avid fan of many sports, from baseball and basketball to softball and wrestling, he loved them all. He dedicated several years to being an assistant Little League basketball coach for the "Magic" and the "Rebels." Cincinnati Reds baseball, UK basketball and Bellarmine University softball were his current passions. Ricky never met a game he didn’t like; many hours were spent playing board & card games and working puzzles. Some of his greatest joys came from being "out and about," going on field trips and attending parties, both with family and his friends.

Also left to cherish Ricky’s memory are a brother, Greg "Flash" Bretz and his wife, Julie; a sister, Vicky Mitchell and her husband, Mike, both of Carlisle; a nephew, Corey Mitchell and his girlfriend, Ashley Hershberger, of Muncie, Indiana; 2 nieces, Ursha Teater, and her husband, Scotty, of Lexington, and Megan Bretz, of Carlisle; and 2 great-nephews, Jacolby Mitchell & Logan Teater, along with a host of extended family.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 12, 2016 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Bro. Jim Caswell with burial to follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.
