Roger Allen Banta, 64, husband of Debbie Evans Banta, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Johnson-Mathers Healthcare.
Born June 10, 1951 in Nicholas County to the late Roger Harold & Helen Duncan Banta, Roger retired from a 32 year career with Square D and 20 years service in the Kentucky Army National Guard. He was a 1970 Nicholas County High School graduate and member of the Pleasant Valley First Church of God. He dearly loved camping with his family, traveling and visiting new places.
In addition to his devoted wife of 43 years, left to cherish Roger’s memory are two daughters: Dana Lenox and her fiancé, Chris Bussell, and Cristi Jefferson and her husband, Robin, all of Carlisle; 4 grandchildren: Cody Livingood, Kenzie Lenox, Katie Jefferson and Brandon Jefferson; a sister, Sharon Unseld and her husband, Bill, of Lexington; a brother Tim Banta and his wife, Kathy, of Lexington; his mother-in-law, Helen Evans; his sister & brother-in-law, Karen & Kenny Day; 2 nieces, Julie Bussell & Andrea Wombles; 4 nephews– Brian Minton, Chris Unseld, Jason Minton & Steven Banta; along with several great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents and his father-in-law, Mert Evans.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Bro. Greg Tucker. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Friday.
