Ruby Katherine Howard DeAtley, 88, wife of 63 years to the late J.W. DeAtley, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at her home.
Born September 19, 1928 in Fleming County to the late Silas Phillip & Amelia May Hamilton Howard, she was a caring homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing with her family.
Survivors include her loving & devoted son and daughter-in-law, Allen & Wilma DeAtley, of Carlisle; 2 cherished grandchildren: Mary Catherine (Derrick) Livingood and Charlie (Erin) DeAtley; 5 precious great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Cole, Caleb & Molly Livingood and Ruby DeAtley, all of Carlisle; 2 sisters, Barbara Arnold and Geneva Howard, of Paris; a sister-in-law, Deloris Howard, of Paris, and a brother-in-law, Carl Liggett, of Mt. Sterling; special neighbors, Linda Ritchie and Sally & Dorsey Watkins, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Also preceding her in death were a great-granddaughter Beth Livingood, a great-grandson, Elliot DeAtley, 5 brothers: Henry T. "Tiny" Howard, Orville (Helen) Howard, Melvin (Margaret) Howard, Frank (Ida) Howard and Paul (Patsy) Howard, 3 sisters: Thelma (Eugene) McCord, Edith (George) Buzzard and Margaret Ann "Margo" Liggett, a sister-in-law, Frances (John) DeAtley Dotson Hall, and a brother-in-law, Virgil Arnold.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 27, 2017 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith and Pastor James Humphries. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Sunday.
