Obituary

Shelia Lane Sumpter Brady, 72, wife of John W. Brady, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at her home. 

Born January 2, 1951 in Whitesburg, Kentucky to the late Virgil & Grace Taylor Sumpter, she was a longtime dedicated employee of Kentucky Textiles. Shelia loved camping, talking on the phone and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

Additional survivors include 3 sons: Jerry Brady, of Cynthiana, Jeff (April) Brady and Timmy (Stephanie) Brady, both of Carlisle; 4 brothers: Mark (Theresa) Sumpter, Ray Sumpter, Mike (Diane) Sumpter & David (Amanda) Sumpter, all of Cynthiana; 5 sisters: Diane Sumpter, Tammy Sumpter, Linda Morris & Shirley Dufresne, all of Cynthiana, and Kim Sumpter, of Michigan; 10 grandchildren, including Brianna Brady, who they raised as their own; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces & nephews. 

Also preceding her in death were a brother, Bobby Sumpter, and a sister, Debbie Thompson.

The family will hold a private memorial service following cremation.
