Shirley Jean McDonald Trussell, 61, wife of Larry "Owlhead" Trussell for 43 years, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Johnson-Mathers Health Care in Carlisle, KY.
Born December 13, 1954, in Nicholas Co. she was a 1973 graduate of Nicholas County High School and was a retired longtime employee of Jockey International where she was active in th womens softball league. Shirley was a dedicated volunteer and officer of many little league and youth programs and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Other survivors are her mother Helen McDonald Fryman, her four children: Susan Flowers (David) of Winchester, Kim Trussell (Joe Bates) of Carlisle, Rodney Trussell and Roger Trussell of Winchester, four sisters Judy Purvis, Joyce (Herb) Booth, Sandra Edwards, Brenda (Joe) Moseman , three brothers Kenneth McDonald, Richard (Amy) McDonald, and Charles "Chuck" McDonald and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was the beloved grandmother of Jasmine and Tyra Flowers and Max and Daniel Trussell.
Preceding her in death was her father Dennis Maxwell McDonald.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Mathers-Gaunce F.H. by Bro. Jimmy Caswell. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 PM Friday and again after 8:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
