Willie Clay “W.C.” Jefferson, Sr., 87, husband of the late Addie Howard Jefferson for 66 years, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Born March 8, 1934 in Nicholas County to the late Davie & Mary Lacey Gaunce Jefferson, he was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a lifelong farmer, co-owner of Jefferson Farm Machinery & Jefferson Trucking, drove a bus for the Nicholas County School System for 23 years was a lifetime member of both American Legion Post #17 & VFW Post 8666 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carlisle.
Surviving are 4 children: Willie Jefferson, Jr., Debbie Osborne, Karen (Larry) Tubbs and Tony (Teresa) Jefferson; 2 brothers: Edwin & Richard Jefferson; 7 grandchildren: Jeremy (Tabbatha) Tubbs, Rebecca Craycraft, Ben (Heather) Jefferson, Lacey (Nate) Hicks, Michelle (Caleb) Downing, Drake Osborne (McKenzy Gentry) and Mitchell Jefferson; 13 great-grandchildren: Waylon Tubbs, Jacob, Nicholas, Matthew & Emily Craycraft, Raelynn & Carter Jefferson, Anna & John Hicks, and Casen, Addilee, Kaelyn & Rhett Downing; and his beloved dog, Turbo, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Thomas “Tom” Jefferson; 3 sisters: Loretta & Marie Jefferson and Jeanetta Watkins; and his step-mother, Louellen Jefferson.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial with military honors will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.
