Wanda Graves Shrout, 88, formerly of Carlisle, wife of the late James D. Shrout, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana.
Born April 26, 1935 in Fleming County to the late Lloyd & Molly Graves, she was a 1953 graduate of Fleming County High School, a retired employee of Jockey International, a 60-year member of the Marie Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Moorefield Homemakers and a member of Carlisle Christian Church. “Ma”, as she was known by most, enjoyed league bowling in her younger years, loved to play bingo & cards, listen to country music, and joke (sometimes argue) with her friends and family. She was described by many as one of a kind.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carol (Jerry) Hunt; her brother, Don (Vicky) Graves of Cincinnati; her sister, Eleanor (Jim) Earlywine of Lexington; 2 granddaughters, Crystal (David) Sibert & Cybil (Jamie) George; 8 great-grandchildren: Cara George, Cassidy Wells, Hunter Wells, Haley George, Parker George, Avery Sibert, Courtney Sibert & Payton Sibert; a great-great-grandchild, Baylor O’Brien, and one on the way, Berkley Little.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Robert Graves, and a sister, Betty Hutton Wells.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 28th at Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith with burial to follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of service.
