Wayne Parrish Berry, 86, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at his home in Carlisle surrounded by his family.
Born June 27, 1939 in the Tunnell Hill area of Fleming County to the late James Malcolm & Melvina Jewell Mitchell Berry, he was a 1957 graduate of Carlisle High School and member of Carlisle United Methodist Church. Wayne drove trucks all his life, having worked for McLean Trucking, run his own trucks with WMW Transport, and retiring from USF Holland. He was a born storyteller, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching horse racing. Wayne loved to socialize with his family and many friends.
Surviving are 3 children: Mike (Teresa) Berry, Becky (Ricky) McFarland & Wesley (Leslie) Berry, all of Carlisle; a sister, Donna Sue (Hayluard) Baker of Winchester; 5 grandchildren: Regina (Derek) Anderson, Jessica Berry (Melissa Czarapata), Erica Berry, Heighley (Oscar) Renderos & Jacob (Tiffany) Grimes; and 4 great-grandchildren: Silas & Lucas Anderson and Kinleigh & Nolan Grimes.
Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Faye Bromagen Berry; his second wife, Wanda Lawrence Berry; a brother, William “Billy” Berry; and a granddaughter, Suzanne Berry.
Services will be 1:00pm Wednesday January 28th at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. Kyle Burnette. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5:00pm Tuesday.
