John D. Faulconer, 68, widower of Linda Gayle McDonald Faulconer, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at his home.

A Nicholas County native, he was born October 29, 1943 to the late Uri Hampton & Anna Ruth McDonald Faulconer, was an Army veteran of the Vietnam war and a retired civil service employee of the United States Government, as well as being a member of both the VFW Lloyd George Post #8666 and American Legion David Rankin Post #257. John was highly decorated for service to his country earning a Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster and two Bronze Stars. He was also an avid sportsman who greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela D. Faulconer, a brother, William Hampton "Bill" Faulconer, and a nephew, William Hampton "Billy" Faulconer, Jr., all of Carlisle.

Also preceding him in death were his two brothers, Larry Bruce Faulconer and Michael Wayne Faulconer.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. Steve Smith. Burial with military honors will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday.
