Steven Nelson “Stevie” Zornes, 45, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. 

A Nicholas County native born December 8, 1974, he was a graduate of Nicholas County High School, a longtime employee of the City of Carlisle and a dedicated member of the Carlisle Fire Department. Stevie loved talking and spending time with his family and friends.  

Surviving are his mother, Joyce Fryman Zornes; his brother, William Scott (Victoria) Zornes; and 3 nieces: Mary Wentworth, Kaitlyn Profitt and Kambriegh Dooley; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his father, William Howard “Buddy” Zornes. 

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held from 5:00-8:00P.M. Monday, September 14, 2020 at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be conducted at 2:00P.M. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 in the Carlisle Cemetery. 

Honorary bearers will be his fellow employees of the City of Carlisle and members of the Carlisle Fire Department.

We are so sorry to hear of Stevie’s passing. He was a sweet guy and it sounds like he was well liked by all his co-workers and friends which is a true measure of ones life.

Joyce Ann and Scottie: We are so sorry for your loss of Stevie. We know you all were very close and loved each other very much. Just know that Stevie is in a better place where he will no longer suffer. Sending much love to you both.
